CLASSES OFFERED IN 2012

Jazz 

Jazz can be described as what you may see in theatre musicals such as ‘Chicago’ or ‘Fame’ or in film clips with Kylie Minogue, Michael Jackson or Brittney Spears. Jazz focuses on a combination of strong technique, dance combinations, rhythm, flexibility, musicality, fitness and more! With great music and energy –Feel the beat… Jazz is a whole lot of fun! 
 

Tap (Glenn Wood Tap Syllabus) 

 Tap is an energetic class focussing on strong tap technique, rhythm and freestyle combinations – this class combines traditional and more current tap training theory. Its varying rhythms and use of musicality make it an exciting class. Great for those with aspirations of being the next ‘Tap Dog’ or ‘Fred Astaire’. Using the dynamic ‘Glenn Wood Syllabus’, students will work towards exams in their classes. Exams are not compulsory however if selected to participate, this is highly recommended!

Classical Ballet (R.A.D)  

Using the Royal Academy of Dancing Syllabus, ballet provides the foundations for excellent technique, body placement, strength & centring and classical ballet movement – through its grade work. Ballet will compliment and strengthen all other forms of dance training and dance technique. Students in grade classes will work toward examinations however they are not compulsory. Whether or not you have the potential to be a ballerina doesn’t matter - the lifelong benefits of good posture and poise as well as complimenting and strengthening all other areas of dance training and technique.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO ENROL IN BALLET.
Pointe Class – For advanced students with sufficient training in ballet…students are welcome to join this class prior to getting their pointe shoes to get ready and build the strength needed for pointe work.

Contemporary

Contemporary dance has strong foundations in Classical Ballet with strong emphasis on technique, strength and precision. A very expressive and emotive form of dance with fluency of movement, soft flowing and lyrical dance combinations with strength in execution.

Hip Hop

Great current music you can’t help but get into this class! Popping, krumping, sharp isolations as well as free flowing movements are all part of the awesome choreography in Hip Hop – get all the latest most up to date moves!!

ZUMBA FITNESS
Join the party!! An awesome dance/ fitness class for over 13yrs!!

Tumbling 

Tumbling has a strong gymnastics base. It focuses on tumbling skills (various rolls, cartwheels, walkovers, hand springs, arial cartwheels, back flips, summersaults etc) and acrobatics lifts and skills in small groups. This class builds on strength, flexibility, tumbling technique & skills – a great class to compliment your work in the various other disciplines offered at the school…if you want to learn some tricks this is the class for you!!!
This year we will use the facilities at J.A Gym on Friday afternoons for our tumbling and cheer classes (Bromley Rd Emu Plains). Tumbling classes at J.A gym on a Friday afternoon will be targeted toward our cheer tumblers—but anyone wishing to do tumbling are welcome to join these classes if the Thursday classes do not fit into your schedule.

Tinies Fun Dance

A class for the littlies. 2yrs to 3yrs of age. Focuses on movement, co-ordination, rhythm and fun! Lots of songs they will know and love, and many props and dress ups to enhance the enjoyment factor. A great start to the world of dance with its main emphasis on dance for fun.

Musical Theatre

Musical theatre is a form of theatre combining songs, spoken dialogue, acting, dance and movement! If you have seen any live Musical Theatre you will realise what all rounders these amazing performers are! They sing they dance they act—THEY DO IT ALL! If this is your dream, then think about joining this exciting class—YOU WILL LOVE IT!

Strength, Flexibility & Technique

Want to condition your body, build strength, improve dance technique and flexibility??? Well enrol in this class – an open age class this highly recommended for all to attend as its benefits are endless and will assist in absolutely every area of your training which ever classes you attend! 

Break Dance

Open to all students over 5yrs. Learn basic to more advanced break dance technique and build your skill base with the latest choreography!! If you want to learn some AWESOME break dance tricks then this is the class for you… Our highly trained break dance teacher has loads of tricks up his sleeve, so give it a go, you won’t regret it!!!

American Cheerleading

If you have seen ‘Bring It On’ and wish to aspire to those fantastic American cheerleaders, this is the class for you. Not only will you learn some dynamic & challenging cheerleading choreography you will also learn some fabulous stunts, just like those amazing Americans!! Many of our cheerleading classes will compete in 2012, after a hugely successful year of competition in 2011.  We cater for all ages now—from 4 yrs up! An awesomely fun and challenging class…THAT IS FOR ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE!!

 

POM

Pom or cheer dance is an energetic and exciting class involving strong cheer motions, dynamic dance choreography, turns, leaps, jumps, kicks, tricks, and tumbling...all while using poms!! These classes will compete in cheer and dance comps this year for both teens and Seniors—an exciting addition to our 2012 timetable!!

Zumba

The Latin inspired dance fitness craze… have AWESOME fun and get super fit at the same time!! Attend classes regularly or on a casual basis – pay as you go!!! Zumba is for all over 12yrs, from beginner exercisers to advanced—we guarantee you will get a workout, that’s great fun, has great music and choreography and YOU WILL GET FIT…JOIN THE PARTY!!!
